My approach is eclectic, meaning that I am trained in a number of evidence based therapies and that I use a mix of strategies as I tailor treatment to the individual and their concerns. My therapeutic style is a unique integration of Relational Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindful Self-Compassion. I have additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and meditation. I have been fortunate throughout my career to train with leaders in their approaches. These have included Dr. Leslie Greenberg (EFT), Dr. Kristen Neff (Mindful Self Compassion), Dr. Richard Schwartz (IFS) and Dr. Tara Brach (meditation).
Since 2015 I have been working in private practice, in both my own practice and in group psychology practices.
I was also part of the clinical team at The University of Toronto Scarborough (Health and Wellness Centre) for almost a decade. In that setting, I provided both individual and group therapy to students, mentorship to clinical psychology doctoral students, and co-created and lead a popular meditation group. Working with young adults with many complex clinical issues as well as intersecting diverse identities set the stage for me to value working with clients from all walks of life.
I work with a variety of concerns, including:
Anxiety
Depression
Self Esteem/Self Concept
Identity
Family Conflict
Relationships
Life Transitions
Grief
Trauma
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours (Compulsive Hair Pulling and Skin Picking)
I completed my graduate training in psychotherapy at The University of Toronto, where I received a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University (Asian Religions), and a Master of Arts from New York University (Education).
